The CDL-A Truck Driver Training program is designed to prepare students for the Indiana CDL examination. The College is partnered with SAGE Technical Schools to provide CDL training in Indianapolis based on the renowned curriculum of the Professional Truck Drivers Institute (PTDI). This curriculum will act as the basis for national standards and rules for truck driver training schools. The Northwest region is in partnership with the local Driveco training program and based on the Commercial Vehicle Training Association (CVTA) recommended curriculum.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
* Basic Operations: Control Systems, Vehicle Inspections, Basic Control, Shifting, Backing, Coupling/Uncoupling, Basic Control, Special Rigs
* Safe Operating Practices: Visual Search, Communication, Speed Management, Night Operation, Extreme Driving Conditions, Proficiency Development (Safe Operating Practices), Truck Safety at Railroad Crossings.
* Advanced Operating Practices: Hazard Perception, Emergency Maneuvers, Skid Control & Recovery
* Vehicle Maintenance: Vehicle Systems, Preventive Maintenance and Servicing, Diagnosing and Reporting Malfunctions.
* Non-Vehicle Activities: Handling Cargo, Cargo Documentation, Hours of Service Requirements, Accident Procedures, Personal Health and Safety, Trip Planning, Public and Employee Relations, International Border Crossing Procedures, Driver Dispatch Relations, DOT Rules and Regulations.
* Preparation for CDL Examination: General Knowledge, Air Brakes, Combination Vehicles, Doubles and Triples, Tank Trucks, Hazardous Materials.

TRAINING DESCRIPTION AND MATERIALS
This instructor led course with reference text, focuses on all the skills and knowledge needed to pass the CDL exam and enter a successful career in the transportation industry. Driving time includes 46 hours of range and over-the-road instruction, utilizing a one-on-one delivery in Indianapolis.

Your CDL-A: Commercial Driver’s License Truck Driver Training is a 150-hour training activity. Pricing does not include Indiana learner’s permit, DOT physical, drug screen, and BMV official driving record.
