The RN will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to complex patients specific to this specialty unit. Primary duties include implementing the nursing process; participating in performance improvement programs; being an active member of the multidisciplinary team; providing excellent customer service; administering and documenting medication; performing physical and psychosocial assessments; verifying provider's orders and providing and documenting patient education. Based on education, experience and competency, the RN may be assigned responsibilities as preceptor, team leader, or charge nurse.

Requirements:
(1) Citizen or national of the United States
(2) English Language Proficiency: If you are appointed to a direct patient care position, you must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402 (d) and 7407 (d).
(3) Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the U.S. or in the District of Columbia.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
1. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State agency and accredited by one of the accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed.
2. Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing and Bachelors degree in a related field or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)

QUALIFICATIONS
1. At least two years of current clinical experience preferred.
2. Documented experience in Palliative/Hospice Care
3. CHPN certification preferred.
4. Documented evidence of satisfactory performance and attendance.
5. Ability to easily establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships and communication with physicians, staff, patients, and their significant others.
6. Demonstrated ability to perform duties with initiative and independence.
7. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
8. Demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate Nursing Service and Medical Center goals, objectives, policies and procedures to staff, patients, and the healthcare team.
